If You’re Not From Colorado

If You’re Not From Colorado

If you’re not from Colorado,

You don’t know hiking.

Hiking there is like cooking in the oven,

But in a good way.

It’s like walking on hot coals

When you put your feet on the rocks,

The smooth dirt-like rocks.

If you’re not from Colorado, you don’t know hiking.

If you’re not from Colorado,

You don’t know snakes.

The rattlers go crazy,

It really does sound like a baby’s rattle.

And boy, do they put fear into your eyes!

If you’re not from Colorado, you don’t know snakes.

If you’re not from Colorado,

You don’t know rocks.

Rocks are like dirt.

It’s almost like stepping on smooth hot coals.

The dirt is red and the rocks

Have natural rock steps.

There’s rock dirt, red rock dirt.

If you’re not from Colorado, you don’t know rocks.

If you’re not from Colorado,

You don’t know the fresh air.

The air I breathe there is like fresh dirt

And breathing underwater.

My lungs are filled with dry, fresh air.

It’s like dirt almost, and just so fresh.

If you’re not from Colorado, you don’t know air.

The air!  The dirt!

The snakes!  The hiking!

I love Colorado.
